When Zach and I first started designing Jen's ring, he was already planning an extra special proposal. I knew I had to enlist Ashlee Mintz Photography to help capture this unique engagement!

THEIR LOVE STORY
Zach and Jen first met in Fairmount Park while racing the Mayor's Cup for Breakaway Racing Team. They hit it off and have been completely inseparable ever since. You can find them running or biking together on Kelly Drive every single weekend - that is, when one of them isn't cheering the other on at a marathon or triathlon! What I love most about Zach and Jen is the way their faces light up when they talk about one another. There is so much love between these two!

THE RING
Zach knew that Jen wanted a round center stone, and he wanted the ring to have a substantial look. We selected a round brilliant center stone that is bright, perfectly cut, and ridiculously sparkly. Since Jen is an occupational therapist and works with her hands, durability was key. We set the ring in platinum to ensure that it could endure lots of glove changings and heavy lifting. Diamonds go 3/4 of the way around the ring, but I left a small sizing bar on the bottom of the shank to accommodate changes in finger size as time goes on.

THE PROPOSAL
On their very first date, Zach and Jen snuck up to the balcony of XIX restaurant with Insomnia Cookies to take in the view of the city. Zach wanted to recreate that special night for their proposal.
Since Jen was running the marathon on Sunday, he knew they would be running 4 miles early Saturday morning. He feigned stomach issues on the run and told Jen he just had to use the bathroom in the Bellevue.
Meanwhile, photographer Ashlee Mintz and I had scored a primo view of the balcony from across the street. Ashlee had brought her impressive paparazzi photo lens, so we were ready when Zach dropped to one knee! Even from across Broad Street, we could feel the love and joy in that moment!
